Hi Everyone
Well it’s Tuesday. My nothing day (which was supposed to be Sunday) did not go as planned. I ended up doing laundry all darn day. Not sure what happened to Monday. And today is Tuesday (My niece, Elizabeth’s birthday – Happy 4th Birthday Liz!!!) and I’m just doing the motions that I typically do on Tuesday. The good news is I don’t have class tonight but Chris does which means I can get some internet class stuff done. However, I do have class tomorrow in math…well actually it’s an optional class. We are going to review for the final. I hate when that call it an optional class, because you know deep down it isn’t. At least not for those of us who want to pass….but after a long day at work that last thing I want to do is go to an “optional” class. Hmm……what to do. To go or not to go…I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see.
So get this, my apartment complex is having a decorating contest. I participated in one of these back in December of 1999. And man did we get screwed!!! Our’s was the best darn patio décor there was….but of course someone had to break out their Dicken’s village. How un-original. So this year I am determined that WE WILL WIN!!! They are doing the voting on the 20th so Chris and I are not putting ours up until the 19th. Chris joking made a comment that we should put a tarp over our patio…..I don’t think he thought I would take it seriously. Ha ha. But if we win 1st place we get $150 off January’s rent. Which I could definitely use. They also have 2nd and 3rd place but I want 1st. So wish us luck. I’ll keep you posted.

What happened to October & November
Hi Everyone ~
Okay so I find it very difficult to believe that the last time I posted something was on September 30....what happened to October & November?? Time flies when your slam packed busy. Lets see...during October & November, we celebrated Halloween, Jon's graduation from Police Academy (congrats again), took a quick trip to Vegas for Chris's mom's wedding, celbrated Thanksgiving and my & Sheila's birthday. And for those of you wondering....yes Sheila still doesn't look a day over 25 which would put me at 19. However, after a week like this I feel more like 89. The week after Thanksgiving is always the busiest for me at work. Simply because people are planning their holiday parties at work and I'm the only catering manager we have. Plus on top of it....we have no admin either...and no sign of hiring one till after the New Year. Now my take on it, is I could care less if we hire after the New Year. I NEED ONE NOW!!
Plus this is the last couple weeks of school as well. I am still suffering through my math class. And I do mean suffering through. I am on the edge of a C and unfortunately that edge doesn't consist of a B on the other side. I am trying but now we are talking about elements and their 1/2 life. Again not something that sparks my interest. But I pretend it does. So after a work week of 55+ hours of work and school, I presented my lesson plan today in my social studies class. As you can see below, I was very serious about not having the stay at home mothers (nothing against those of you who are one) about not upstaging me. What you are seeing is a handmade poster of Arizona with all the major landmarks, rivers and cities posted on it. What you don't see are the light grid lines that helped me draw it freehand. This poster took over six hours to do. However, I am very proud of it and pretty soon will laminate it. Next to the beautiful poster is another map of Arizona, however this one is made out of sugar cookie dough, chocolate chips (which represent the moutains), nuts (which represent the grand canyon) and colored frosting. When I walked into the class people were in awe. Now, I'm not sure if it's because of my presentation or because I probably still have flour on my cheek and marker on my hands. I think I got an A on it, if not though something else good came of it. I bought my first rolling pin.
Now Chris can vouch for the fact that I am not what you would call a gourmet chef (he says I could burn water) but I have slowly began cooking a little bit. I have become pretty decent a cooking soup and cutting up bread to dip in it and the other weekend (with much arm twisting) I made fried salmon with orange sauce. The orange sauce sucked but the salmon was good if I say so myself. I am very excited with what I can use my new rolling pin on (besides Chris when he comments on my cooking or lack of it however I could say the same for his house cleanliness.) ;o) Well enjoy the pic. I hope everyone is doing well. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Tomorrow is my nothing day. I don't even think I'll get out of bed....plus it's raining here so that makes for a perfect nothing day. Yipee for nothing days. I will curl up in between the dog and the cats on the couch and together the four of us will do nothing. I must prepare for this day.
Otherwise everything else is coming along. My projected date of leaving my job is August 2005. I will than begin student teaching and the start of my new career. To be quite honest the thought scares the heck out of me. I have even begun having nightmares about when I do leave. However, I do look forward to the day that I put on my cap and gown and graduate with a college degree. So heres to nothing days and college degress. Yipee!!

Lunch Hour
Don't you just love lunch hour?? Here I at my desk and work eating lunch and doing nothing. Not that I don't have a ton to do but I am a firm believer that my lunch hour is mine. Typically I wouldn't be here but today I don't have a car. Chris's work car broke down the other day so he had to take the truck which leaves me with nothing. I even walked to work today. At first I was like this sucks but than I began to enjoy it. That was until my co-worker Robert comes up from behind laying on his horn. Let me put it this way....he thought it was funny. I've forgave him though because I was beginning to get over the "oh isn't this nice walking to work thing" and he gave me a ride. Luckily I was wearing flip flops while walking because I have my 2.5 inch heels today. Man my ankles are killing me. I think it's because I have been in flats most of the summer and I am starting to pull out the fall wardrobe.
I think Chris and I may even go for a bike ride tonight at Papago Park. I'll have to post a pic of me on my mean bike! It has more battle scars than bikes that have been used for years. Hey that is okay. My hand still has scar tissue from when I was going downhill hit a crazy rock and wiped out. My hand swelled up so big!! It was black, blue and purple. Actually it was kind of cool looking. They even had to put a temporary cast on it. One that I could remove so that wasn't too bad. Still to this day, I can't staple with that hand because it's....let's just say uncomfortable.
So I'm alone this weekend. Chris is headed off to star in a big film with ADAM SANDLER!!! Well I don't know if he'll actually see Mr. Sandler but Chris is going to be an extra in the film. (For those of you who don't know, Chris is studying Film and Production. ) I think he is leaning more towards TV but you never know. My parent's even allowed Chris to use their old house for one of his films. It was a good film. He's very good at what he does. I was even a star in the film....I think I'll stick with teaching. A 3 minute film took 1.5 days of filming. There is a lot of work that goes into the whole film thing. Speaking of film, Chris and I started this movie yesterday called Danny Darko or something like that. Now I know it sounds stupid but there is this crazy giant rabbit in it and it's just messed up. If you like semi-horror (it's not that scary) than you should check it out. We had to stop mid-way but I look forward to seeing the end.
Well I better get back to work now. I don't know why but they expect me to get things done here. Figure that out. See ya all.

Just another day...
So my day started out just peachy today. I was actually in a good mood. Chris and I went biking yesterday (Sunday am). We were up at 5:30am so I got to bed pretty early last night. Hence the reason for my good mood. However it never fails. I get to work and something went wrong with someone somewhere. And than my high maintenance client, who shall remain nameless sent me tons of e-mails to complain about everything. My only question is "If we can't do anything right Mr. Nameless, than why are you still using us?" I'll tell you why because all he wants to do is complain and he can't get the deal he's getting from us anywhere else. So ultimately I have the upper hand....even if it doesn't feel that way. ;o)
However, none of that matters because I am only 10 months away from QUITTING!!!! Whoo hoo!!! Mom, you really should be proud because I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have just wanted to leave...but I won't as you have always said "burn my bridge". Even if I do want to douse it with gasoline and light the match.
Don't you just love Fall? Here in Arizona we just love it. Like I said I went mountain biking on Sunday and it was beautiful. So what that it was 5:30am. It was still beautiful. I can't say that about my riding though. Many of you may know that Chris is a dedicated mountain biker. This guys rides this trial called "National" on South Mountain with his friends and I'm telling you the stuff they do is amazing. JUST AMAZING. Imagine a 4 foot boulder in front of you...now imagine jumping your mountain bike over and on top of it. Let's just say, I'm not there yet. The first day that I got my mountain bike (January 2, 2004) Chris and I went riding. Of course I have all the gear, the helmet (I have discovered if you don't wear a helmet out here you are considered a nerd...just the opposite from what I remember in the Midwest...plus this night I was glad I did), the biking gloves, the shoes that click into your pedals (which is a story all on it's own) and of course - the outfit to do it all right. Anyway I'm biking along with all my gear on riding my brand new Tomac 98 Edition (that's not the year just the edition number) feeling all cool. Hey look at me on my new bike...aren't I cool?? Anyway, Chris says "Hey Kate, jump the curb". I'm like "okay". The next thing I know, I'm on the ground thanking the lord I bought the darn helmet. Man did I fall hard. Needless to say I haven't been jumping any curbs since than...at least not on cement. Anyway, I biked quite a bit but than school and work started up so the last time I went biking was in May up in Sedona. So I figured, I paid for this thing I better use it. So I went. Well I actually panted and moaned (It's hot. I'm tired. When did this trail get so rocky? Who's idea was this? Did I mention I'm tired. Whoever said this sport is fun was crazy!!! No it really is fun...If you stay with it and don't take a 4 month break like I did. Because than you start back at square one. Oh well...I think I'll go tomorrow with Chris again. I'm starting to get office butt from sitting on it all day ~ not too mention all the snacks I eat don't help me at all.
That is about all. School is going good. I did my word web and I was proud of it. Until I went to school and a couple of "stay at home moms" had these crazy out of this world word webs. I will not be shown up on the creativity end....that is not how my mom raised me. Plus I felt like such a loser. I had creative down as one of the words to describe me and I was actually embarrassed to go after these ladies. So needless to say, the next poster I have to do is going to be GOOD! I'm going to do it on Chicago and it's going to be a giant Sear's Tower with all the great things about Chicago strategically placed on it. I'll post a picture once it's completed. Chris and I also went to the teacher store the other day and I could just spend all day in there. It's like a book store to me. I love it. I already have a wish list. I have of course started my 4th grade book library. I have been going to local second hand book stores to purchase books. For only $50 I can get like 25 books. That is not a bad deal. For those of you who have books you don't want, feel free to send them my way. My mom kindly donated her collection of Harry Potter - hard cover. Thank you mom!!!! They are the best ones I have. Anyway I'm getting off track ~ so I'm in the teacher store and I told Chris for my B-day, I want stuff from Crate and Barrell, books(for my 4th grade library) and TEACHER SUPPLIES!!!!! How lame huh? I bought these alphabet stencils and spent last night poking them out and tracing with them. I can't wait till next August. It is going to be so much fun!!!!

Hello Everyone
So the way I came about this little website is a fluke. However, I'm sort of glad I did. While there isn't enought time in the day to contact all the people I love and care about there is enough time to drop a couple lines on my own "blobber" website. So those who want to laugh - go ahead and laugh, but honestly with how busy life is lately this might be the only way to keep in touch until I get some down time (which when that happens I just want to crawl into bed and sleep).
So where should I start. Oh I know. Did I mention I hate math to any of you. I have been sitting at my house studying for this awful math test tomorrow and it dawned on me once again. I HATE MATH!!! Not your every day math such as adding, subtracting or even multiplying. Heck I can even deal with some division and fractions. It's Algebra that I cannot stand and today I will add on the fundamentals of math that I no longer care for. So I took the class below college Algebra (because I could and still get a degree) and took the Fundamentals of Math. Did you know that things such as annuities and simple interest are fundamentals? At first I was like cool, I can learn about ways to invest and how my credit card companies calculate awful interest charges. But you know what???? I decided I've learned enough. Have I mentioned this is just our first test?? As I was working out a problem, I became all excited because I actually FIGURED IT OUT! However, when I realized for the same problem I had to repeat what I just did nine more times, I became frustrated....and quite honestly bored. Why do those of us who do not care have to learn this? I suppose that is not a question a future teacher should ask huh? Hopefully none of my students will ever ask me because I may quite honestly say "I don't know and I feel your pain." On the flip side I am taking three other classes. (Yes three which all together is four classes which is 14 credit hours - don't ask how I do it, I just do). But the other classes I am taking all relate with Elementary Education. How fun it is to make word webs with my name and charachter traits. (What you don't know what a word web is???) Or tomorrow evening I begin to write my Philosophy on teaching and why I want to be one. That is going to require some thought....and possibly a bit of wine.
All in all, life is going pretty good. They just hired two new sales managers at work...which is the second time in three months. Believe it or not but I am actually celebrating my two year anniversary at work tomorrow. I know Butch Harrington will never believe me. The problem is my company has had a switch in management companies so much that even though I have been at this one job, I'll still have three W-2 forms. (Somebody please tell Butch it's not my fault!!!!)
So get this. Most of you know I have some pets (Sheila quiet!!). Well I have some tiny fish magnets on my fridge. Well everyday I come home and they are all on the floor or under the fridge. Out of 10 I'm down to 4. So anyway I put them back on my fridge and tonight I caught the culprit. Diego who is my small grey cat sits on top of the fridge and bats them off. Therefor leading me to believe that I cannot get real fish - he would destroy them.
Anyway between work and school there is not much time for anything else. However, I miss you all. Sheila I know you called...I will get back to you. I want to hear the update on your pool and Jon's police academy. Candace I know you called too...but for our conversations I need to schedule about an hour so we can really talk. Mom - you haven't called. I figured you've been super busy though so I send my love and prayers to you. Mike and Shannon it was great seeing you guys and those beautiful children. I'll post pics soon.
The rest of you, please know that I love and miss you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you (when they aren't on my math homework). ;o) Take care and feel free to post messages or heck even sign up for your own blob.
