Hello Everyone ~
Well I think the title says it all. Another day goes by.....which means I am another day closer to student teaching!!! Whoo Hoo!!!! Today I actually went and observed a classroom in the Kyrene School District. It was a good experience. I love observing classrooms because you get to see the teachers in action while you typically sit quietly and take notes. You always learn something. Today's teacher was good. Very nice man and seemed to like his job. I picked up a couple things I liked and as usual a couple things I didn't. One of the things that drive me crazy is when you walk into a classroom and it seems cluttered/messy. Every time I have observed a male teacher, their classroom always seems to be that way. (Now I'm not saying all male teachers are this way...just the couple I've observed). So my mom would be proud to hear that there is no way in heck someone is going to enter my classroom and say that. I mean you should see my desk at work!!!! You would almost swear that the desk sat empty because at the end of the day I clean it all up. My bulletin board at work was not made to tack papers on top of papers. The papers don't even touch on my board. And heaven forbid if they go outside of the frame on the cork board....that would never happen. No, my classroom will be very neat. Now don't get me wrong....I'm not so naive that I think that it won't get dirty with 30+ children running around but man will I try my best. You'll see....just wait.
I finished my Math Methods class last night. THANK GOD!!! I don't know what it was but the teacher I had was by far one of the worse. I just feel like I paid all of that money and didn't walk away with much. They always have you do evaluations at the end of the classes and that was the worst one I have ever given. I mean she would consistenly let us out of class an hour to an hour & a half early every night. I did not pay ALL THAT MONEY to have the teacher not put forth 100%. Very disappointing. My next classes are Grad Review (which is basically writing a term paper) and classroom management. And of course I have four other side classes in English (2), Communications(1) and Technology(1). Should be fun.
I went to the store tonight and they were having a big ten for $10 sales. I bought a bag of the Circus Animal cookies, you know the pink and white ones with sprinkles??? Well I'm not feeling to good right now. Could you imagine if I bought 10 bags??? Man would I be really sick.
But tomorrow it is back to work at the hotel. Ho hum......
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!! Take care.
Love, Katie

Habits!
Never really thought of myself as being a person with a lot of habits...at least a lot of bad ones. I mean I know I'm addicted to clothes shopping. I think my first clue is that the ladies know my name...no just kidding but they should. However, tonight I realized what my one awful one is. Are you ready???? Chocolate. Yes, I am addicted to chocolate. Not chocolate bars or anything like that but chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I made one about four days ago and Chris & I polished that thing off. I made another tonight. Thinking I'll take it into work...that way they will all eat it. Or else I'm going to check myself into some where...somewhere that doesn't have chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Pray for me.

March Madness
Hello Everyone ~
Here it is Thursday evening and I should be doing homework on one of my online classes but....well I don't feel like it. For those of you who remember from last time I posted I mentioned I was in a five week class that was accelerated, well that class is over. Thank goodness. That class was just grueling. We ended up having to do a huge project (think 150 pages long) on a thematic unit. For those of you who don't know what a thematic unit is I'll explain it. It is where you take a theme (i.e. Endangered Species) and tie it across the board in every subject matter. Our theme just so happened to be......Endangered Species. Imagine that!!! However, that was one of the most intense projects I've had to do yet. There were four of us in the group but at times it seemed like there were only two. The night before I was supposed to make 17 copies of our 150 page project and put them together our disk went bad. Thank fully I had most of it was backed up on the computer but we did lose some stuff. So we had to put it all together the very next day and I ran off 17 copies. Needless to say I was very happy when that class was over, but it all paid off. Today I found out that I received a 97% which is an A in that class. Which is awesome!!!!! I also found out that I received a 89% in my Education Pysch. class...which was a little disheartening since I was so close to the A but oh well. I'll take a B I suppose. With both these classes finished I am down to 5 right now. In April, I will begin another four but should be finishing the rest of the ones I'm currently in. Hoping to finish with honors which means I need a 3.25 or greater. I think I'm currently at a 3.2, so I'm very close. I'm not too sure though.
I did finally receive my fingerprint card so I am all done with that and I met with my advisor to speak about my student teaching. I am hoping to get a student teaching position in the Kyrene School District. It really is an excellent district and it looks as if I'll end up way back in Ahwatukee which is were Chris and I use to live. Very nice area so I'm looking forward to that. But with that said, Chris and my lease at the place we are currently at is coming to an end. So we will be moving again soon. Anyone who wants to help is more than welcomed. It will most likely be the week of May 20th. Hey I'll even buy pizza and beer for all of our helpers!!! Tempting I know...but not quite huh?
The great news about student teaching is that is starts August 8 - November 3. So you know what the means don't you????? ONLY 140 DAYS LEFT OF WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!! And actually only 99 of those days are work days. Wow, I can't believe it's almost over. When I leave I'll be only one month short of my three year anniversary. Who thought I could hang out at a place for THREE YEARS? Not me that's for sure. However, with it all almost said and done I really did enjoy my job and I think I was pretty good at it. For instance, this past month of February I hit 107% of budget and only a couple of months ago I was at something like 124% of budget. Working for a no name brand that is really good!! I think I'll really miss it at first...and who knows I may one day end up back in the hotel industry. However, if I do I want to become a trainer or team builder. I think that would be fun.
I was talking to an old colleague of mine (I have seen over 15 people come and go in the sales department since I've been there) and she gave me a great idea of putting together paper clips to make a chain of how many days I have left. So all over my area is a chain of 140 colored paper clips. How fun!!! Thanks for the idea Diane. We now have a great admin in place at work so I gave her my work to do and strung paper clips. Where else could you do that?? (Just kidding Robert...kind of). I do have a feeling my co-workers are going to mess around with them though. I hope not....it's the light at the end of a tunnel for me.
That is about all that is happening in my life right now. Still just work & school but it's all coming to an end soon. I should be graduating Spring of 2006 even thought I will actually have my teaching certificate in November of 2005. Exciting stuff. Once I get that I can begin chopping away at over $30,000 worth of student loans....now that is going to be just fun fun fun. But at least I'll be done...until that following summer when I decide I need to go back to school for my Masters or do some personal development. Ha ha ha. Never stops.
Well I hope everyone else is doing well. Have a very Happy Easter!!!
