Well, I managed to leave my job yesterday. I told myself I wasn't going to get upset....but I did. All of the sudden it hit me and I was a complete wreck. I don't have a job anymore!!!
Of course I start student teaching next week but that doesn't pay anything! How am I suppose to get by on nothing? I miss my paycheck and it hasn't even been a month since I left. Heck it's barely been 24 hours. And of course I'm starting to get all the coupons for fall fashions from my favorite store - Lerner New York - in the whole world!!!! Oh the cruelty of it all. I mean, don't I need the cute little grey suit with light lavender top to go under it? What the heck??? I haven't received anything from them all summer and now they send me stuff? SO WRONG! All of my other clothes are old...well from last season. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal to anyone and to be honest it wasn't for me either....until I walked out of my old job. Left my desk - it looked so bare and empty. So alone. Made me want to go home, sit on the couch and eat ice cream and watch sad movies. However, Chris was there to remind me that I'm on the right path and that I wasn't meant to book business for a hotel all my life. That I have another calling. I'm so glad he was home. :-)
I wish I could get some work at home type deal because it doesn't sound as if I'll have much time to go to an actual job. But perhaps if I could find a data entry type job part-time or something. Just something that brings in a paycheck so I don't feel like a complete loser (and so I can go get my grey suit - which I decided I could wear on my interviews to get a job!!!!). :-) See how I already have an idea for it....it was meant to be!!!!
Sheila and mom would be proud of me. I started to go through my closet and actually clean out some of the clothes I haven't worn in years. I actually took some of them to the second hand store and sold three tops for $10. Not bad considering I would never wear them again. They told me to come back later with my other stuff - they just are accepting any tank tops right now. And I had plenty of those....also told me to bring in any old dresses. Whoo - lord knows I have plenty of those from weddings, parties etc. So I'll try to make a couple bucks doing that.
Well I'll get by. We always do. However some good news did come my way. It turns out that some of the teachers at the school I'm going to are pregnant. Which means they'll be taking maternity leave - so my Mentor teacher, Heather, said she wants to get the Principle or Assistant Principle in to see me so perhaps I could fill one of the positions.
Good good good. Wish me luck!
Love,
Katie

What the?!?!
Okay so I was reading a little story about people who write on their blog (like me) and some of these people are actually getting book deals....
What??? I guess but to be quite honest I don't ever see myself buying a book of someone's blog. I mean, I enjoy writing on my own and I enjoy having people read it. But the difference is MINE IS FREE TO READ!
Also can I just tell you all, I am tired of pop-up ads on our computer. It just needs to stop. Just when we can begin to put our phone number on a do not call list, our computers become cluttered with pop-up ads. Arghhhh!!!
Well back to homework. Good night.

Dog days of summer.

Hello Everyone ~
Well it’s almost here….my official last day at Radisson Hotel (formerly Prime Hotel and formerly formerly Wyndham Hotel.)
I can’t believe it. Where did the time go? It’s a little sad…more so than I thought it would be. I mean, this is my first job that I have consecutively been at for over 2 ½ years. Wow!!!!
I found out some sad news though. One of our main guys at Corporate passed away. I never knew him however the story is quite sad. He was out by the pool with his 10 year old twin girls when he screamed out and fell into the pool. His family pulled him out and attempted CPR but it was too late. They are still looking into what caused the collapse. However, I guess at the remembrance ceremony he had several hundred people show up….all with positive things to say about him. That stopped me. Could you imagine having several hundred people come to pay their last respects to you? I guess there were a lot of good speeches given about how he helped and shaped many of the people there. And I thought to myself…..wouldn’t that be nice to touch so many people? You never know when your time is up….and I’ve decided to challenge myself to make the rest of my life a positive experience for me and the people I’m around. I want to look back at my life when it is all said and done and think
“Yes, I’m proud of my life and accomplishments and the things I have done and the people I have helped.”
So People, the morale of the story is and we’ve all heard it 100 times over:
“Life really is short – enjoy it while you can!”
So I’m getting ready for school to begin. I meet my mentor teacher August 2 to help set up for the new school year and the students begin to come on August 8. Whoo…this is going to be some hard work. I have two other classes I’m in as well. One on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and one on all day Saturday. They are only for about five weeks so I can handle that. And than I am done. Done done done done. Well at least until I decided to go back for my ESL endorsement which won’t be far off. I need to have it at least ½ way done before the end of 2006 if not completely. No rest for the weary…..good thing I like school, huh? I am totally enjoying my Tues & Thurs class though. It’s Art for the Elementary Teacher. We do art projects all evening long. What could be more fun than that? I don’t know either. J
So did I tell you guys about my dog Mack? I think this heat has made him go crazy. The other week he was playing around with Bella our cat and turned around and rammed his head into the corner of the wall. It was so bad that he dented the wall and literally had scraps of wall and plaster stuck in his forehead. He cut himself pretty good but luckily it is healing really well. What a dork. He finds a way to hurt himself on a bi-weekly basis. I’ll have to take a picture of the wall….I still can’t believe the dent! Some how I think Bella secretly tricked him into doing it. But she isn’t saying a word about it.
Well that is about it for me. It’s so hot outside lately. I feel like I’m getting cabin fever from staying in all the time. When will it all stop????
Love you all.

And the results are.....
Hi Everyone ~
Most of you know that I have been anxiously awaiting the scores from my AEPA test (the test you take to become certified to teach) since June 11. They have you take an 8 hour test which costs you $200 and than wait an entire month before they will even post your scores online. Well today was the day they were posted and the entire time they weren't supposed to be posted until 5:00pm. Of course I am very impatient and kept checking and to my excitement/nausea they were finally available.
Turns out I passed....both tests. I am so relieved I could just cry! To spend so much money on a test that you didn't even want to take to begin with and than wait an entire month second guessing yourself is just awful!!! Or course they don't give you your official score. They just say pass or fail - therefore I'll never know if I passed by the skin of my teeth or if I am just super smart. Oh well. I'll opt for super smart! :-)
Meanwhile, as I've been counting down the days to my test results - I have also been counting down the days at work. I am officially down to 14 days (not counting today since it's just about over). Can you believe it??? I could freak about that too! I mean 14 days???? Where did the time go? Am I ready to do this? Did I save enough money for this? Oh the agony of all these questions!!! I am going to go crazy!
But on a brighter note....I passed my tests!!! Yipee!
Well that is about it for now. I hope all is well with everyone.
Love,
Katie
