Almost at the finish line.

Hi Everyone ~

Just thought I'd fill you in what happened with my final observation and screening interview. First, that principle that I thought would be able to observe me Monday had to call and cancel that day. Which sucked!!! But I got over it. Heather is working hard to try to get her in on another day for me. Can I just say Heather really rocks??? She's done so much for me - and she still continues to help out.

My advisor came and did my final observation today during reading and literature circles. I was a little concerned because last time she had such wonderful things to say and I was worried I may not live up to it again. Yet somehow I did. She raved about it afterwards to me and said how impressed she is with the job I'm doing. Yipppeee for me!

Next I was able to gather my three letters of reccomendation - it was interesting to read what everyone had to say about me. They were really good.

I left work at 12:30pm to get ready for my 2:00pm screening interview. Basically they just intereview you quickly and then put you in a database for principles to view. But when I got home - it was the most exciting thing.....I broke out my old business suits. Man I haven't put on one of those with a pair of high heels in a long long time (since July 29 to be exact!). It felt good - and my professional instincts came over me and I walked out of this house feeling very confident. So I think I did pretty well. We'll see. The lady I intereviewed with said she would call that principle as well and let her know she can view my information now in the database. So yeah!!!

So hopefully I'll get the other lady in and blow her away.....because I need a job. But it was so sad. I was walking out of the classroom and saying goodbye this afternoon and the kids where like are you coming back? And they were all sad and stuff. It made me feel good - but at the same time I was soooooo sad too! I can't imagine not waking up everyday and seeing them. I know I'll get to know and love another group of kids but these were my first....I don't think I'll ever forget my firsts.

Anyway, a little halloween fun for you all. Just click or copy and paste this link and get to carving. http://www.toilette-humor.com/flash/carve_pumpkin.swf

Almost done...

Can you believe that there is a strong possibility that two weeks from Monday I will have my teaching certificate?????

The reason I say strong possibility is because it all depends upon paperwork.....typical. BUT that is still so exciting. How long have I been waiting for this?

In addition to that exciting thought, I am also preparing for a principle (who has a 5th grade teacher retiring in December) to come observe me on this Monday. I am nervous!!! But the good news is I'm teaching writer's workshop, which if I had to pick a subject I would say this is my best. Speaking of guess what a student of mine said to his mom? She ran into me yesterday and said "I hear your're quite the author". I laughed and said "Did your son tell you that?" Turns out he did and told her that I have the best stories and that instead of just reading books with examples of what I want them to do that I do it to to show them how (which is called modeling). That made me real happy. I'm glad he appreciates it.

Which brings me to my next point. I know we thought for a brief time that I would never say this but........I'm really really REALLY going to miss those students of mine! And not just a few of them but all of them. We have really become close I think. Heather says the kids are really going to miss me too. They keep asking why can't I stay here. I had to explain that I need to go get a job and start making money again. They were shocked that I wasn't making any doing this. And one boy goes "She even had to pay to be here!!!!" That was it, they were like WHAT?!? I laughed and explained it is all part of schooling. However, I had to assure them that I would take a job at their school if I could. :-)

Mack is doing quite well. The rest of us look a little skinny since we're cutting back to help pay for his food......exeryone except Bella. Hmmmm......I wonder if she's still eating Mack's food. :-)

Well that is about it. I have a lot of work to do this weekend. I'm tearing apart my house looking for my test scores....which I need to get my certificate. And this place is a mess - looks like we don't know where anything in this place goes so we drop it wherever. AND I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!! I declare cleaning day. Need to go find Chris right now and break the news to him - wish me luck.

Take care - love to you all.

Update on Mack

Hi Everyone ~

I know many of you were wondering what the update on our dog was. Unfortunately, I did receive the results back and it turns out he has the beginning stages of kidney failure. There is nothing that can be done beside changing his food to a Kidney Disease friendly food which requires less work from the kidneys.

Basically it's just a waiting game. It could progress quickly or take a few years - we just don't know. Chris and I went out right away to get the food. All I can say is it's quite expensive - to the point where Chris wants me to lock the room it's in. :-) I heard the cat eating the other night and thought nothing of it until I realized they weren't eating in the usual place...sure enough we find Bella munching down on Mack's new food. Uhhhh- no!!

Heck at the price we are paying for his food everyone else in the household is going on a diet. Skinny pictures of me, Chris, Bella and Diego coming soon.

The good news is Mack seems to like his new food. Let me put it to you this way, he is picking up his old food (I'm mixing it in to slowly introduce it to his digestive system) dropping it on the floor and eating the new food. That's good I guess. Our main goal is to just make sure he is drinking plenty of water and eating. The doctor said the main problem typically is dehydration. So I always make sure he has a full bowl of water available.

Otherwise he is doing good. He is still happy and enjoys playing with his chew toys and messing around with the cats. Not too mention all the attention he is getting from Chris and I.

Please just keep him in your thoughts. That's my puppy dog and I love him. Thank you.

Hope all is well with everyone else. I get to go back to work Monday. Finally I'm feeling better today....was only sick on my butt for a week. What's a week anyway? I'll just make sure I hug each and every kid when I see them! It was their fault after all. :o)

Vacation?!?!

Hi Everyone ~

This week is our school's Fall Break which means no school all week. Which was very exciting but what was supposed to be a relaxing week is actually turning out to be more than I expected. First I woke up feeling all fine and dandy on Saturday only to hit mid-afternoon feeling like I had been run over by a truck. Sure enough by that evening I had body aches and chills, high fever, sore throat and nasal congestion. God bless whoever invented Nyquil because that stuff rocks. I have been on it for about 4 days trying to sweat out whatever it is that my students decided to give me. (I know it was their doing!!)

On top of me being sick I have been watching my dog drink water like it's going out of style. I have to refill his water dish about 2-3 times a day which is insane. Usually I only have to refill it perhaps once every day and a half. It has become so bad he has had an accident in the house a couple times this week - which is totally unlike him. I was a little concerned but not like I was until I talked to people who freaked me out into thinking he has either diabetes or a kidney issues. So I finally broke down (and literally I'm broke) and took him to the vet. Quite a bit of money later and still no clue. We'll have his blood results back in a couple days to let me know if it's kidney failure or thyroids. But the goods news out of this - Mack has teeth like a puppy from all his chew toys. So he isn't suffering from dental issues. Yipee. So please just keep your fingers crossed and hope his test results come back good. I would absolutely be heart broken if something were wrong.

So yes, here it is Tuesday - I'm sick, my dogs sick - I'm sure one of the cats are sick because I keep finding little surprises for me in the morning. Yes what a great break.

Where is my Nyquil because I need a drink.
