A new beginning...

Hi Everyone ~

As many of you know I finished with my bachelor's degree and last weekend was my graduation. See the picture? Don't Dave and I look good? The one of Chris and I didn't turn out to well - really blurry and the second one I had my eyes closed. :-( But the rest look good. Anyway, we went to the ceremony and it was there that I discovered just how lucky I was to have been hired mid-year. There were so many people I went to school with who are still unemployed. So thank you God. After the ceremony we went to Bahama Breeze and had dinner and drinks. It was a lot of fun! And even my dad showed up who had been sick with the flu. What a trooper (you never would be able to tell - he takes such a good picture even sick.).

In addition to being hired mid-year I also found out today that I was extended a position to teach summer school. Now you can beat that. Four hours a day for four days a week for four weeks - making an hourly wage that is actually very nice. I'll be teaching Ooey Gooey Science, Forces of Nature and Toy Design. What do I know about any of that you ask? Nothing! Teachers are like actors - we're give a script and some mediocre lessons and we make it happen. I can wait to do explosive experiments and get all gross. Fun stuff!!!

Than after my four weeks of hard work, I'll have four weeks off until the next school year. So I won't know what it's like to sit around for a full summer but I think that's good.

Next week we start our testing at school. This crap is so stressful - it's worse than college. It's absolutely ridiculous. We are talking 4 straight days of testing with 15 minute breaks. And for a while there they were telling us the kids couldn't even go to the bathroom. I was like "WHAT?" That's all I need is a classroom full (literally) of 5th grade students who "gotta go!!". But after I read the proctor handbook I pointed out to our principle that the kids can go - you just need to take their test away and give it back to them when the come back. I spent this afternoon covering up all my educational stuff on my walls - none of it can be showing and rearranging the desks in old fashion rows. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my kids kick ass and do really well. If not that's okay...I guess. :-) As long as I have my Starbucks coffee, we'll all do just fine.

New loves....(and some old ones)

Wow!!! It's been awhile since my last posting, huh? Well, I've been sort of busy and a little bit lazy which gives me buzy time. But during that buzy I have discovered some new loves and rediscovered some old ones.

My first new love is my diploma. Picked up today at the post office. It came certified mail - fancy I know. But the main point is that it has my full name and tells the world that I have a Bachelors Degree. Not that the whole world cares to know but damn am I proud. It took awhile but here it is. Now I feel strangely empty - like what the hell am I going to do with my life? So I decided to take another class at Rio Salado. It's a math class - more importantly a "How to teach Math" class. Because we all knw how much I love doing that!!!

My second new love is Reeses Peanut Butter cookies. If you have not tried these you don't know what the heck your missing. Let me tell you - it's sixteen $3.00 worth of cookies. Mmmmm good. I just love them. I could eat them all day and night. I'm buy them in bulk (okay not really - just two boxes at a time). When I feel my temper flaring up - I just eat a cookie. A delicous chocolate peanut butter cookie. When I'm feeling sad - I just eat another cookie and so on. You get the idea - if you haven't tried them get on it right away.

My third love is
www.myspace.com. I have become addicted. And to be honest there isn't much to become addicted to - but some how I have managed. My advice is opposite of the adivce I gave on the cookies - stay away. No sweet satisfaction from myspace. Just a lot of wasted time.

The fourth love is our new couch. Okay - perhaps it's not brand new but it seems like it. Chris and I got the couch from my parents who took their old couch back from Sheila who bought a new couch. Are you following me here??? Well anyway Chris and I threw out the old one we had and took in this new one. I love it - the cats hate it. They are now locked up outside or in the bathroom when we are gone and are locked in our bedroom at night (which I think I hate as well). Bella hates the night time arrangement. Chris thinks it's because she used to be able to get up and have a midnight snack, a 1:00am snack, a 2:00am snack, a 3:00am snack and so on. By the looks of her I just have to agree with him.

Now for my old loves that were rediscovered.

1. Arizona Iced Tea - need I say more?
2. My blogging space - I love to type with no certain goal in mind.
3. IKEA!!!!! God I love that place. However, I would never have known how much if it wasn't for my 4th old love.
4. SPRING BREAK!!!! Man, everyone should get a Spring Break. I remember when I was a student how much I loved Spring Break. Than you get old and your like Spring what? Well let me tell you. I have spent so much money this past Spring Break it's not even funny. But man has it been fun. And I think my place looks darn good if I say so myself. I wonder what Summer Break will be like?
5. Ebay. I won't say anymore except if you haven't tried it you should but if you do prepare to become oddly addicted. And if you have tried it my friend Diane and I once talked about starting a "EA" for Ebay's Anonymous. I am of course a proud member and we are always accepting new members.

Well that's it for now. I should probably start on some lesson plans for school next week, drink a bit of green beer and of course check myspace. Oh what a buzy day I have ahead of me.

Love you all and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

P.S. My other new love are these glitter graphics - just one of the cool things I've picked up at myspace.
